Portrait paintings

What stands out here is the diversity in colors and the way these commissioned portraits were painted. That's because I have no fixed 'mannerism' for portraits; I tell a story about a personality with color and brush strokes. Soft, subdued colors and smooth brushstrokes tell a different story than bright colors in combination with dynamic brushstrokes.

In small portraits backgrounds are quiet, but in my larger portraits the (abstract) backgrounds play an important part, in terms of color and dynamics, in the story about the person portrayed.
